The origins of the ‘La Croix-Banche’ restaurant:


This name dates back to the Ancien Régime and refers to a place with a stable and a coach house, specialising in welcoming and accommodating travellers on horseback. After more than 150 years serving the people of Villerois and travellers in Puisaye, this former coaching inn, abandoned for the last ten years or so, has been reborn. Chef Bruno Ortolé offers traditional Burgundian cuisine based on fresh local produce, complemented by delicious Creole specialities.

La Croix Blanche has been listed in the Petit Futé since May 2022 and in the Guide du Routard Bourgogne 2024/2025!

We welcome you to our establishment, which we have carefully renovated and decorated. We wanted to preserve the charm of this former coaching inn and make it last. We look forward to welcoming you to our pleasant dining room, where you can enjoy your meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

A word from the chef

Bruno ORTOLÉ: The chef:

An engineering graduate of the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, this lover of cooking passed his CAP on his own initiative and completed his training at the CIFA de l'Yonne before taking up the challenge of opening his own restaurant and eventually a hotel. "Having lived in Villiers Saint-Benoit for a number of years, I despaired of seeing this historic establishment closed down for good and overgrown. Should I accept the inevitability of the end of the rural world or take up the challenge of a renaissance in Villiers Saint-Benoit? With this project, I'm going to reconcile three things that I love: nature, the Puisaye region and the hotel and restaurant business, an area that has attracted me for a long time.

Yolène ORTOLÉ :

Yolène Ortolé is a former wedding planner with a wealth of experience in the catering trade. She welcomes customers with a smile, professionalism and skill, and provides room service.

    and Fridays and Saturdays evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.
    We are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Creole evenings

Every summer, La Croix Blanche organises Creole evenings hosted by the Caribbean jazz band Quartet An Nou. In a decor revisited in the West Indian style, you can enjoy an entirely Creole meal in the dining room or on the terrace and dance to the West Indian rhythms of the biguine, mazurka, calypso...
